CME Claim -- Members who attended the Feb. 17 conference at the Stephens Convention Center may claim their CME credit online.  CLICK HERE to access the online claim form.  You will be asked to complete a short evaluation of the meeting, and at the end,  you can print out your certificate for credit.  Please note that you must finish this process by April 15.  Contact Rich Paul if you have any problems or concerns.

Residents & Dermatology Fellows -- At the request of your department chair, all residents are automatically registered.  However if you are not attending, please contact the CDS office by email (RichardPaul@DLS.net) so we can take you off the list.

Medical Students: Dermatology departments at one of the medical schools are asked to use this online form to register any medical students who will be attending.

Please note this important dealine:  Registrations submitted after 8 a.m. Monday, February 15th, are considered "late."  After that time, advance registrations will be closed; please contact the CDS office if you wish to submit a late registration.

This Month's Guest Speaker

Mark Lebwohl, MD
Professor and chair, Department of Dermatology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY

Dr. Mark Lebwohl graduated from Columbia College in 1974 and from Harvard Medical School in 1978. He completed internal medicine and dermatology residencies, both at Mount Sinai. He has been practicing dermatology since 1983, and is professor and chairman of the Department of Dermatology of The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Lebwohl has served as president of the New York Dermatological Society, the Manhattan Dermatologic Society, and the New York State Society of Dermatology, and as chairman of the Dermatology Section of the New York Academy of Medicine. He also served as chairman of the Psoriasis Task Force of the AAD, among other programs. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the AAD for 2010-2014.

Dr. Lebwohl is chairman of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation. He has chaired numerous symposia and has written, edited, or co-edited several books. Dr. Lebwohl is actively involved in clinical trials of many new dermatologic treatments.

This Month's Program

All meeting activities take place at the on the first floor of the Donald E. Stephens Conference Center.

There are a couple of important items for this meeting that are new to members with respect to the location and program.  Read Dr. Ben Dubin's letter to the membership to learn more about this and the factors that went into the planning for the February conference.

On-site Registration

The registration desk for all attendees will be located outside Ballroom #1 on the first floor of the conference center located at the north end of the Stephens Convention Center.  This is easily accessible from the parking garage by way of the covered "skybridge" walkway.  Upon entering the convention center building, turn left and take the escalator to the first floor.

Meeting Registration

Advance Registration is now CLOSED. --  CLICK HERE to access the online registration formSo that we can better plan the meeting, please register no later than February 14th.  Registrations received after that time are considered late.  Members who pre-register will be guaranteed a case book and lunch.  Annual CDS dues includes attendance at the monthly meeting.  There is no charge for members in good standing.    Residents & fellows in training are not charged, and they are automatically registered for each meeting.  (Residents who are unable to attend are asked to contact the CDS office so we can make the appropriate adjustments.)

All guests must be physicians or medical students; registation is required.  The guest fee is $25.  Use the paper registration to sign-up.  A PDF version of the form is available here.

Advance registrations are accepted through, 2/14/09.  After that time, any registrations are considered "late" and the attendee is not guaranteed a protocol book or lunch.

Parking
Use the convention center parking garage located on the west side of River Road (enter near the Doubletree Hotel - Williams Street).  The cost will be $13.

Public Transportation - CTA Rapid Transit
The Chicago Transit Authority "Blue" line serves the Rosemont rapid transit station.  CLICK HERE for route and schedule information.  The Rosemont station is just 2 blocks away from the Stephens Convention Center.


Educational Items

Course Director:  Bemjamin Dubin, MD

Target Audience:  Practicing dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this learning activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Define the clinical features of pyoderma gangrenosum.
2. Discuss the differential presentations of Lyme disease.
3. Interpret the lessons learned from cases presented by the residents with respect to dermatological conditions and general medical impact on the patent.
